Hero’s Blog Hop (July 27 to July 31, 2012)
A Hero Who Doesn’t Bite
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cullen Danes. I’m an investigator for the British Aviation Ministry. I’ve never fostered any grand illusions about being anyone’s hero. That was until I met Nina Holt. She was working as a hostess for the International Aviation Conference in New York City when our paths crossed. From the moment I saw her, I knew she could replace the woman I slept with in my dreams.
From our first encounter, I couldn’t tell if Nina felt the same attraction towards me; and if she did, would our relationship end up sour and bitter like my parents marriage had? I wanted to know her better but I feared I’d mess up my chances. I was a broken man and I learned she was a broken woman.
I came to the conference in New York City to learn more about the North Atlantic Aviation Authority. You see, I was notified by Lieutenant Bruhn at Scotland Yard that a good friend of mine, American pilot Steve McKenna, had been murdered at Faversham Airport in England. Steve worked as a private pilot for an airport in Massachusetts owned by a consortium, the North Atlantic Aviation Authority. He was on assignment at the time to transport cargo to Faversham Airport which is also owned by the NAAA. Scotland Yard’s investigators found a stash of stolen credit cards in Steve’s locker suggesting he was involved in a credit card fraud ring. I knew Steve couldn’t be involved in criminal activity. I needed to find out who set Steve up and had him killed.
What I couldn’t anticipate at the conference was meeting Nina. Without her, I would’ve never discovered how Steve became entangled in a credit card fraud ring and the identity of his killer. She was exactly what I needed in more ways than one, and I filled in the gaps in her own life.
Crushed by one broken engagement, Nina hid her need for a man’s love by focusing her energies on a profession in public relations. That is until I entered her life. I asked her to come to England with me. A week after I returned home she came, leaving her family to be with me. I don’t dream about being with a woman. I have her in my life.
